Első verse a Jelenkorban, 1964-ben jelent meg, első verseskötetét 1972-ben, Erdőntúli táj címmel adták ki. József Attila-díjat 1993-ban, Pro Literatura és a Petőfi Sándor Sajtószabadság-díjat 1998-ban kapott.
